Communication

Communication skills are the cornerstone to clearly conveying project objectives. Due to public sensitivity to project management issues, IAE has a strong public information and participation program specifically designed to educate the community. It has become a necessary component of any project to be "up-front and open" with the community that it affects. Involvement with the public from day one ensures a means of answering the public's concerns. Which, if left unanswered, could destroy the credibility of the Client and undermine the chances for project success. IAE fully recognizes the importance of a well-prepared presentation. To this end, employees work with speech and media training consultants and public relations firms to conform presentations to satisfy the public's need to know and enhance the client's ability to proceed with the project.

Quality Assurance

IAE has a detailed Quality Assurance Program administered by the corporate Vice-President. Applied to all services which we provide, the program is modeled after federal quality assurance programs. The program is based on use of fully trained personnel, documented procedures, and monitoring in all aspects of the business. Appropriate technical and non-technical training is provided to all personnel according to their job functions. IAE's quality assurance program is one of the most important factors contributing to client satisfaction and our continued success. The purpose of the program is to provide the client with confidence that services are performed in a correct and consistent manner.

Team Overview

Engineering Team consisting of international Applied Engineering, inc. (IAE) and its Contractors provides services on projects involving energy production and usage, with environmentally friendly solutions. The resources of the ET were directly involved in a project receiving the POWERPLANT AWARD in 1996 for the Colver Power Plant in Pennsylvania. See inclosed information for a reprint of the specific published write-ups. The experience the Engineering Team gained in past challenges has been applied to plant designs resulting in highly reliable systems for both material handling (fuel and sorbent) and ash handling. This includes, not only the mechanical portions of the systems, but also the electrical, I&C, and civil portions needed to support the project reliability goals, while taking into account constraints such as high dusting, high angle fold belt conveyors, all available materials, etc.

Engineering Team has focused it’s professional attention toward the areas of power generation and optimization; energy production from non-traditional sources; cogeneration of power and specialty fuel projects; waste management handling and other renewable energy projects. They have extensive experience in the planning, design, construction and operation of power production facilities, in-house cogeneration facilities, co-firing, specialty fuel usage, and solid waste handling.

The personnel of the Engineering Team have been involved in projects worldwide involving international governments, utilities, independent power producers, paper mills, municipal waste systems and others. ET’s capabilities are backed by many years of individual's experience as consultants and specialists. They are familiar with all facets of the complete project scope, from planning and conceptual design through commissioning of facilities. Both IAE and its Engineering Contractors have established reputations as developers of innovative and cost-conscious engineering solutions.

Engineering Team is staffed by an experienced group of multi-disciplinary engineers and planners who are well versed in their respective fields. Their planning and engineering disciplines include materials handling, environmental, mechanical, civil, chemical, structural, electrical, and power and process engineering. Additionally, staff capabilities include environmental permitting, economic and financial analysis, project development and procurement services, management consulting, and public relations.

This engineering organization has a strong, flexible project group. When desired, they can draw on the resources of local affiliates and/or foreign contacts with their international branch offices. Through these US and international project experiences, the Engineering Team personnel have earned an international reputation in the consulting engineering field of power generation. The key to success on major projects is to provide a design that is economically constructable and reliable. The experience that IAE has gained in the utility and independent markets ensures that construction efficiencies and reliability are part of the original design. This approach saves construction time and cost, and maximizes the availability of the plant when it is completed.

Electronic communications can be established to make design completion and review more cost effective. Since most of our design organizations are located in the Atlanta, Georgia area, face to face communications can be regularly scheduled ensuring a smooth project operation. The project can be structured and implemented to best serve the needs of the and of the ultimate customer. The Engineering Team will perform preliminary and conceptual engineering sufficient to be developed into detailed designs under a Phase II Contract. It is anticipated that the work will be performed in standard formats and access to the to support the Project and enhance its value.

IAE projects reflect continuing specialization in environmentally responsible power and solid waste management consulting. Practical professional experience in energy and environmental projects has evolved an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to power production and solid waste management. This approach recognizes that most solid waste is a resource, which can be used to generate electric power. It also recognizes that competitive power production can be accomplished without sacrificing the environment. The interdisciplinary and integrated approach successfully been used.

Power generation can be accomplished by incorporating new technolgies to upgade existing systems or by using emerging engineering methodolgies to increase the value of new systems.

Ability to Manage Projects

The Engineering Team will use experienced managers to control work. Project team members will work together closely on all assignments. A cohesive staffing arrangement provides added assurance that the ultimate customer will receive quality service, on time scheduling, and within budget constraints.

The Engineering Team’s principals will involve the potential customer at all decision making points, prior to expending effort and time on potentially unneeded detail. In this fashion, the potential customer is able to indicate preferences and desires concerning those portions of work that are discretionary or sensitive. The ET will seek to involve the regulatory agencies at critical stages of the project to determine their sensitivity to issues.

The Engineering Team system of management has evolved over years of worldwide engineering experience. The project manager will employ an array of project control mechanisms (i.e. project activity logs, computerized time sheets, PERT and Gantt charts, CPM scheduling, etc.) to ensure an on-time and on-budget project. Specifically, the Project Manager will:

The Engineering Team’s managers clearly understand project priorities and milestone tasks which must be addressed in a timely manner. Established priorities and proper allocation of personnel man-hours are critical in time-driven and budget-driven projects.
